During the last three days of April, militants of “Maghaweir Al-Thawra” armed group, formerly known as “New Syrian Army”, took control of a string of sites in southeast Syria, namely Tarwazeh Al-Wa`er, Sereit Al-Wa`er, Jabal Ghrab, Humaima, Swab desert, Al-Kamm Swab, T3 Pumping Station, Me`izeileh and Tarwazeh Al-Attshaneh.

According to Syrian opposition’s media, the ultimate aim of these operations is to “completely liberate” the vast desert region in Homs and Deir Ezzor provinces and hence to “prepare for further operations”.

It is known that “Maghaweir Al-Thawrah” militants coordinate their operations with US-led international anti-ISIS coalition – in particular, with Jordan and the U.S.

Several sources claim that the aforementioned insurgent group has deployed multiple patrols in the area north of Al-Tanf border crossing at the Iraqi border. Furthermore, according to the same sources, militants conducted a successful operation capturing Humaima village from jihadists of the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” (ISIS).

This village is situated in the southern part of Wadi Al-Sawab valley which, in turn, is considered a gateway to the town of Al Bukamal in Deir Ezzor province, longtime stronghold of the aforementioned terror group.

Some analysts believe these actions by US-backed militant group conform with a greater plan of the US-led coalition to seize complete control of the border between Syria and Iraq. A part of it in northeastern Syrian province of Hasakah is already controlled by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) allied to the U.S. On the other hand, in southeastern part of Syria, US-backed “Maghaweir Al-Thawrah” group mentioned above controls important Al-Tanf border crossing to Iraq.

Their only aim is to cut off the Syrian Arab army’s advance towards Deir Ezzur and prevent them from controlling part of the border with Iraq. ISIS are their allies not their foes and are simply taking the guise of the US mercenaries, hence the apparent swift advance. If the invading US forces and their foreign mercenaries gain control of all the borders it would be a question of time before they would topple the legitimately elected government and president of Syria. So Syria has no time to lose. It needs to launch a massive offensive towards Deir Ezzur and… Read more »

Hillary and Obama’s plan to oust Assad will not work now. Syria is currently in many different hands. Everyone is planning to establish themselves a country within Syria. Iran will continue to put al qaeda terrorist inside, the kurds have kurdistan and all these other groups will demand something. Turkey will not withdraw. Believe it or not, this has become a worse situation, no one likes no one, no one will deal with another. Even the so called great powers. And Trump cannot just leave Syria because the Kurds will be attacked next by both Assad and Turkey. They died… Read more »

You are right. I wrote several times on Southfron about necessity to take road 95 and territories up to jordan border during last year. All of them were against my opinion. Now Assad can forget Syria. Americanswill take the whole south and east part of Sy, and never will come PMO from Iraq to help 🙁 BTW, durung last hours the situation dramatically worsened for Assad. Look at: http://syria.liveuamap.com/ If Assad allows them to take road 95, the rebels will be close to Damascus. And can easily lose aganin Palmyra. For good. I do not understand russians. The had full… Read more »

This looks like the American invasion from Jordan that was noted preparing a few weeks ago.
Will they help the Syrians at Deir-ez-Zor or ISIS?

which Syria? it happens to be divided. currently the us is backing the kurds, who established kurdistan in syria, a democracy. they also are backing other small groups like this one. Turkey wont allow Kurdistan or Assad. Assad wont split up his daddy’s empire or give his children a smaller Syria. Alot of terrorist groups will rise after ISIS falls, backed by turkey, russia, saudia, Iran, where have you been for the last 10 years. Syria will not be a peace unless its in pieces.

If they make it to Mayadin, then that would deny the Daeshbags their new fallback capital.

the only real question being this: what affiliation does this group have in regards to the jihadists in Idlib?

well they fight under the FSA flag and in idlib the FSA is fighting with HTS so they are more allied with them then with the SAA but i think they would want to avoid any conlicts with the SAA at least in the begining until ISIS is gone.

cool, another military group. they can start an own country also. So Syria will be split into even more groups once ISIS is gone. What could go wrong, mmm Actually feeling a little sorry for Russia lol, they have alot of lying and coverups ahead of them when Assad tries to take back Syria from all these groups. I dont think he is the type to share.

Really hard for them to have their own country when they only literally control desert, there are no more than ten settled areas in the entirety of that big green strip. This group only has a few hundred fighters, if the SAA or even Daesh wanted to they could squish them in two days, but it literally has nothing of value (not even oil, its an oilless desert) so they don’t bother

As predicted. Soon they will be at the Euphrates. The local Daeshbags will just turn their coats, join and consolidate the large new Wahabi entity of the ziofascist Yankee empire as there is no fundamental difference between this and that kind of terrorist gang members. We would need some carpet bombing here from “Bear” squadrons and the PMU to move in from Iraq as the SAA can do nothing in that region. But I fear this will become a ‘pacified’ Saudi financed Sharia aka Pariah state inside the Syrian state instead under the various senselessly ongoing “peace” and seizefire negotiations… Read more »

Some here write this and that for US blocking this and that. Confirm why things are bad there. US has full connect and fine supply line from the SDF area to reach Deir El Zor. Some dusty road from Jordan are not a supply line for more then moskitobytes. The green one can only be a blocker for any ISIS transportation there and also a kind of small helping hand for SAA norht of them. Som writers here seems to be barking mad or not allowed or able to follow the real world. Nice to see some good ones too.… Read more »
