BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:00 P.M.) – The U.S.-backed rebels attempted to carry out a surprise attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops at the Al-Zarqa Crossroad near the Al-Tanf region.
Led by Jaysh Mughawar Al-Thoura, the U.S.-backed rebels stormed the military post of the Syrian Arab Army’s 1st Division on Wednesday evening, resulting in a fierce firefight that would last for a short while.
According to the 1st Division, their troops were able to wipe out the group of U.S.-backed rebels, killing at least a half dozen of their combatants.
In addition to killing six rebels, the Syrian Arab Army was also able to destroy two technical vehicles that belonged to Jaysh Mughawar Al-Thoura.
The 1st Division said that the U.S.-backed rebels were not provoked and they have not given a reason for carrying out this latest attack against the Syrian military.
