BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:10 P.M.) – BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:50 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) scored a new advance along the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, Tuesday, capturing several towns from the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).

According to pro-SD media, their forces captured five towns from the Islamic State on Monday, securing another portion of the Euphrates that previously controlled by the Islamic State.

The SDF’s Deir Ezzor Military Council reported that their forces captured the towns of Hasiyat, Jayshiyah, Jadleh, Al-Bahrah, and Gharnej after a short battle with the Islamic State on Tuesday.

With this latest advance, the SDF are now on the verge of expelling the Islamic State from the entire eastern bank of the Euphrates.

They were not captures. They were handed over to them by their ISIS allies, who were escorted by the US troops to cross to the Western shores of the Euphrates river and attack the Syrian government forces.
