BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:50 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) seized a new town in the northeastern province of Al-Hasakah, today, following a short battle with the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists.
According to pro-SDF media, their troops seized the town of Al-Fakkah after making a new push in the southeastern countryside of the Al-Hasakah Governorate.
With this latest advance, the SDF has seized a half dozen towns from the Islamic State forces in northeast Syria.
The SDF launched the second phase of their offensive against ISIS on Monday, with the primary concentration being the Al-Hasakah Governorate.
Previously, the US-backed forces focused on the southern part of the Deir Ezzor Governorate; this phase would end after they captured Baghouz Al-Tahtani.
