BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 A.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) scored a major advance against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the southeastern countryside of the Al-Hasakah Governorate on Saturday.

The SDF managed to capture at least three towns in the Al-Hasakah Governorate’s Badiya region, following an intense battle with the Islamic State forces near the Iraqi border.

According to pro-SDF activists, their forces captured the towns of Al-Dahou, Al-Hassou, and Hassoun Basha after overrunning the Islamic State’s positions in this large Badiya area.

Since capturing these towns, the SDF has reportedly entered the strategic town of Baghoz; they are now attempting to seize this imperative area from ISIS.

Where the h**l are we talking about, I can’t find any of these 3 villages anywhere on my maps of Al-Hasakah Governorate, Al-Dahou, Al-Hassou, and Hassoun Basha. And as to Baghoz or Baghuz, as far as I can work out, that’s in Dier ez-Zor Governorate. Is this article referring to 2 separate operations by the SDF, one in Al-Hasakah and the other in Deir ez-Zor I have no idea. I can find conformation of the SDF operations in Deir ez-Zor but as to the other 3 villages in Al-Hasakah I can’t find a dam thing about SDF operations there. Come… Read more »
