BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:30 A.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) resumed their large-scale offensive against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in the southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor on Sunday.
Backed by US and French artillery and airstrikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces stormed the Daesh defenses at the strategic Baghouz Mountain in southeast Deir Ezzor.
According to Kurdish activists in eastern Syria, the Syrian Democratic Forces were able inflict heavy damage on the Daesh defenses, while also clearing several areas near their front-lines with the terrorist group.
The Syrian Democratic Forces received a major boost in manpower this past week when reinforcements from the Syriac-led Suturo forces deployed to this front in order to aid in the offensive against Daesh.
With Daesh forestalled at the Baghouz Mountain, the Syrian Democratic Forces will attempt to retake all of the territory they lost to the terrorist group over the last two weeks.
