BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:20 P.M.) – The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reached the Iraqi border, today, after making a big advance from the Tanak Oil Fields.
Backed by the US Coalition, the Deir Ezzor Military Council of the SDF pushed towards the northern countryside of Albukamal this morning, capturing several kilometers of desert terrain from the Islamic State (ISIS).
As a result of this advance, the SDF has effectively cutoff the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) from the border-crossings located north of Albukamal city.
While the Syrian Army has liberated all of the major cities in Deir Ezzor, they do not control the province’s largest oil fields and now they are unable to push north along the Iraqi border.
