BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is gearing up for another battle against the jihadist and Turkish-backed rebels in northwestern Hama.
While several units are still tied up near Tal Malah, the Syrian Arab Army is hoping this new operation at the Kafr Naboudeh will force the jihadist rebels to ease their resistance at the hilltop (Tal Malah) overlooking the main road between Mhardeh and Sqaylabiyeh.
The operation will be led by the Tiger Forces and several units from the 4th Armored Division and 9th Division’s Shock Troops (Al-Sa’eqa).
According to a source in Mhardeh, the operation will target the eastern axis of Kafr Naboudeh, which has yet to be secured because the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham control the nearby hilltop of Tal Sakher.
As long as the jihadist forces control Tal Sakher, the Syrian Arab Army will be unable to secure the eastern part of Kafr Naboudeh.
Finally, the Syrian military is hoping to expand its presence in southwestern Idlib, which will allow them to clear the jihadist forces from the demilitarized zone that was established during the September 17th Sochi meeting.
