BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – The Syrian military resumed their assault on the strategic hilltop of Tal Al-Harrah, today, following the refusal of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to leave the area.
Using attack helicopters, the Syrian Air Force pounded Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s positions at Tal Al-Harrah, inflicting heavy damage on their defenses.
As shown in the video below, Syrian helicopters were heavily targeting this hilltop on Sunday:
The Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the residents of Al-Harrah had agreed to a reconciliation agreement with the government; however, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham refused to allow the government to enter the area.
With Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham’s refusal to leave for northern Syria, the Syrian military made the decision to resume their assault on northwest Daraa.
The purpose of this attack is to force Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham to either retreat to the Al-Quneitra Governorate or leave for northern Syria.
However, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham has made it clear they do not plan on surrendering their areas in Al-Quneitra and Daraa, so the Syrian Army is preparing to launch another major attack against them.
