BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:45 P.M.) – Reports are abound that a new pro-Syrian Army rebel group has risen in Kurdish-held areas of northern Syria to fight both US and Turkish occupation forces.
Sources point to a statement (below) reportedly released by an armed group calling itself the ‘Hasakah Popular Resistance Movement’ (one such translation) that displaces Syrian government symbolism.
Earlier in the week, a US military base at the town of Ayn Issa was reportedly shelled by pro-Syrian Army resistance fighters operating within Kurdish-held areas of Raqqa province.
It is unclear if this is related to the so-called ‘Hasakah Popular Resistance Movement’ (if indeed the group exists).
