BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:40 A.M.) – After US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley announced her resignation on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump held a press conference with the US representative in Washington D.C.
Trump thanked Haley for her “incredible job” at the UN, saying: “She has been at the United Nations from the beginning with us, right from the beginning and worked with us so that the campaign, it’s been really a long time, very intense.”
He went on to say that Haley had announced her intention to take time off around six months ago.
Haley thanked the president for what she called “the honour of a lifetime”. Looking back at her tenure, she praised Trump’s work in foreign policy.
“Now the United States it’s respected. Countries may not like what we do but they respect what we do. They know that if we say that we are going to say something, we follow it through and the President proved that.”
Haley will leave her post at the end of the year. Is it unclear who will take her position at the UN.
