Hace minutos en el campo del sudeste de la gobernación de Homs, las 43ra y 63ra Brigadas de la 4ta División Mecanizada del Ejército Árabe Sirio liberaron la ciudad estratégica de Qaraytayn después de una violenta batalla con el Estado Islámico de Irak y el Levante (ISIS).

El Ejército Árabe Sirio había estado asediando la ciudad de Qaraytayn desde hace 48 horas; su captura esta mañana ha obligado a ISIS a retirarse al sur hacia la frontera con Irak.

Qaraytayn fue capturada por ISIS durante su ofensiva a gran escala dentro del campo sur del desierto de Siria en agosto de 2015.

Con la liberación de Qaraytayn, las fuerzas armadas sirias pueden dirigir su atención a la carretera de Palmira-Deir Ezzor que se encuentra actualmente bajo control de ISIS.
