DAMASCUS, SYRIA (8:10 P.M.) – Three U.S. spy planes conducted coordinated reconnaissance flights near Syrian coast and Russian naval base in Tartous, in particular, CivilMilAir reported on Twitter.

According to the flight radar data, two strategic reconnaissance aircraft of U.S. Air Force (USAF), namely RC-135V and RC-135U, departed from Souda Bay airbase on Crete Island (Greece), and a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft of U.S. Navy, taken off from Sicilia (Italy), have participated in the operation.

The P-8A Poseidon aircraft approached the Russian base as close as 40 kilometres several times, circling over the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

This comes amid recent controversial claims made by U.S. White House officials claiming to have obtained intelligence data on Syrian Army allegedly preparing for a chemical attack.
