Two Turkish generals serving in Afghanistan were apprehended by Emirati police earlier this week for having links to the July 15th military coup.
According to state-run “Anadolu News Agency,” the two Turkish officers were identified as Major General Mehmet Cahit Bakir and Brigadier General Sener Topuc.
Major General Bakir is the commander of the Turkish task force in Afghanistan.
The two officers were detained at the airport in Dubai after close coordination between the Turkish Military Intelligence and Emirati authorities.
No formal charges have been filed against the two Turkish generals; however, they are currently under investigation for their alleged roles in the July 15th military coup to overthrow President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
