Two Saudi women have been sentenced to 10 days in prison and 20 lashes for “impermissible expressions” in their WhatsApp conversation, Saudi Al-Watan newspaper reported.
One of the sentenced women appeared in the Criminal Court in Jeddah and accused the other of using abusive expression in a WhatsApp conversation they had together. She then had to show her phone to the Court to validate her claims.
However, a counterclaim was made, with the defendant showing the court messages from two months ago from the accuser.
This spurred the court to adjourn for a month later, where a judge then found both women guilty and sentenced both to 10 days in prison and 20 lashes each.
