BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 A.M.) – Two powerful explosions rocked the city of Baghdad on Thursday after twin suicide bombers carried out an attack on a market in the central part of the Iraqi capital.
According to local reports, the one suicide bomber blew himself up at a market for clothing in Tayaran Square, while the other carried out his attack in the Bab Al-Sharqi area of central Baghdad.
The first explosion was said to have taken place with an explosive belt in the middle of a crowded market, with RT Arabic reporting that after the second explosion, the security forces rushed to close the government green zone and prevent anyone from entering without permits.
For its part, the Baghdad Post website quoted a security source as confirming that the two bombings resulted in 12 deaths and more than 20 wounded, indicating that the toll is expected to rise.
No group has claimed responsibility for these latest terrorist attacks in Baghdad.
