BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:40 P.M.) – The Turkish Air Force carried out a devastating attack against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq this morning.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, their warplanes launched a heavy attack over the Karacak region of Iraq, destroying a large number of PKK sites near the border.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense said that more than 20 PKK fighters were killed during the attack, which was backed by armed and unarmed drones, early warning and control aircraft and tanker aircraft.
They would add that their airstrikes also targeted Metina and Gara regions in northern Iraq, killing at least six members of the PKK.
The Turkish military operations in northern Iraq have been ongoing for months, despite Baghdad’s objections.
The PKK, which has been outlawed in Turkey for years, reportedly has a large presence in northern Iraq, especially in the Kurdistan region of the country.
