BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The Turkish military launched heavy artillery towards the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units’ (YPG) positions in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate last night.
According to pro-opposition activists via social media, the Turkish military pounded the YPG’s positions around the towns of Malkiyah and ‘Anab; this resulted in the death in three Kurdish fighters.
The pro-opposition activists reported that the Turkish military targeted these YPG fighters after they were seen trying to enter Malkiyah and ‘Anab.
Both Malkiyah and ‘Anab are located near the strategic city of Manbij, which is situated in northern Aleppo.
The Turkish regime demanded the immediate withdrawal of the YPG forces from Manbij during a meeting with the U.S. Coalition last month.
The U.S. military agreed to jointly monitor Manbij, while also forcing the YPG to retreat from the area.
