BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:45 P.M.) – A new video was shared on social media Friday showing the aftermath of a Turkish drone attack on a Russian-made air defense system in the Libyan city of Tarhouna.
The Turkish drone reportedly bombed the Russian-made Pantsir-S1E system during the Government of National Accord’s (GNA) attempt to capture the city of Tarhouna, which is located southeast of Tripoli.
The GNA’s attack would prove successful on Friday, as they were able to seize Tarhouna from the Libyan National Army (LNA).
Once the city was captured, the Government of National Accord forces began to film from Tarhouna, showing the aftermath of the battle.
Not longer after the announcement, however, a video of a destroyed Pantsir-S1E surfaced, confirming reports that a Turkish drone strike did indeed destroy the system.

The Libyan National Army uses a plethora of air defense systems; however, the Russian-made Pantsir-S1 is arguably their most effective and prevalent.
While it may have been destroyed during the attack on Tarhouan, the air defense system itself has managed to repel several airstrikes against the Libyan Army forces in the past five months.
