BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:45 P.M.) – Tensions have been rising in the Afrin region of Aleppo lately after the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) carried out several attacks against the Turkish-backed rebels.
Most recently, the YPG’s Special Forces carried out at least three separate attacks against the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) troops this week.
The attacks by the YPG’s Special Forces have resulted in the death of at least ten Free Syrian Army fighters, including three last night and four the day before.
However, the FSA was able to avenge their losses last night by killing at least three YPG fighters at the same battle in the town of Akhtareen.
The Turkish-backed rebels have had their hands full in the Afrin region over the last two weeks, as the YPG has intensified their operations in response to Turkey’s threats of invading the eastern part of the Euphrates River region.
