BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:25 A.M.) – The Turkish-backed Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah faction clashed with several armed civilians in the eastern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Monday.
According to reports from eastern Aleppo, Ahrar Al-Sharqiyah fighters clashed with the armed civilians inside the Tarheen Refugee Camp near the town of Qabasin.
No reason was cited for the clashes inside the Tarheen Refugee Camp; however, locals reported that the firefights lasted for a considerable amount of time before they finally dissipated.
Firefights between armed civilians and rebel groups have become weekly occurances in eastern Aleppo, with tensions increasing over the corruption of the Turkish-backed rebel groups.
Looting, theft, and arbitrary arrests were previously a major problem in the Afrin region; this required the Turkish military to get involved and crackdown on these rebel groups.
