BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:40 P.M.) – The Turkish-backed Euphrates Shield forces reportedly captured the Tadef Roundabout in southern Al-Bab today after a fierce battle with the Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
As a result of the Euphrates Shield’s advance today, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has been officially cutoff from the strategic city of Al-Bab.
This news comes just hours after the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that a deal had been put in place, giving the Turkish-backed forces the green light to seize Al-Bab.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also added that the Syrian Arab Army will not advance past the key town of Tadef; this claim contradicts what Syrian military sources told Al-Masdar regarding the orders they received from the high command.
Regardless, the only way for the Syrian Army to enter Al-Bab now is through the Euphrates Shield’s defenses.
