DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:00 P.M.) – New reports regarding a massive Turkish Army build-up in northern Aleppo have emerged after military sources confirmed to local outlets that a large-scale offensive was brewing, aimed at driving the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) out of the Efrin region.

Two days ago, Al-Masdar News revealed that dozens of Turkish tanks were pouring into the northern rebel-held countryside of Aleppo while artillery units had already begun a barrage on SDF frontline villages.

Although other NATO allies are opposed to any such aggression, the Turkish Armed Forces hope to smash through some 30 kilometers of Kurdish-held territory and build a corridor between the northern Aleppo pocket and Idlib rebel heartland.

According to a Turkish military source speaking to a local outlet, the primary targets of the invasion will be Menagh Airbase, Tall Rifaat and Efrin city itself.

Yesterday, the US Army patrolled the northern Raqqa border town of Tall Abyad amid fears that a second Turkish offensive was to begin there.

Did the government helped them when IS was besieging Kobani? Or to retake so much from IS/FSA? Not really. And US didn’t gave help at all for near 2 years. It was mainly EU and also PKK. You should respect all these people who, while under threat of genocide, fought back the cockroaches while, to be frank, Kurds were poorly treated already under daddy-Hafez. If one day things go SHTF in your area and your Gvt does fucking nothing to avoid you being beheaded on Youtube with a knife but you can get help from EU or the US, what… Read more »

Exactly, it would be a grave mistake for the SAA to allow the Turks to take over Afrin and have Idlib connect to North Aleppo, even when considering the SAA/SDF troubles, it’s insane! The SDF is an on again/off again friend to the SAA, whereas the Turks, their jihadists, are always enemies! And no sane commanders strength their enemies (SAA moves have always been bizarre though, like their Tabaqa/Palmyra/Deir Ezzor disastrous offensives.

Actually, it’d be a good idea to expel Ottoman genocidal army from Turkish Kurdistan!

I dont see the turks with their proxies making any quick progress, SDF has heavely fortified the area and has a lot of fighters in reserve troughout the canton and in Aleppo/sheik maqsood. The turkish backed groups will loose a lot of troops, no only by deaths but also surrendering/deserting of the fighters to SDF units.

Who will supply the Kurds in that area? it is surrounded by the SAA ,Turkey and Turkish proxy terrorists. The SAA need their forces to lift the siege of Deir Ezzor and are unlikely at this stage to inflame tensions in Idlib. Erdogan has chosen the only time he can get away with this.

The US could airlift supplies directly to the Kurds, specially if the Kurds at Raqqa give the US an ultimatum. ‘Help us or we walk from Raqqa’.

Either way , the US military planners have another headache 🙂

Oh, Assad sent more than once trucks of ammos, so did the Russians.
And don’t underestimate EU : cumulated military budgets less UK are over China! Turkey already occupies illegally a part of an EU country (Cyprus), Greek capital city and its region (Constantinople + Thrace) and with the shit Erdolf has done or let be done, it wouldn’t take a lot to make the EU really furious!

This is a false divide, US controls both IS and SDF and the Turks know it. They will not seat quietly at the table whilst their influence is being eroded and sovereignty challenged, they (as well as Syrians, Russians and Iranians) are perfectly aware of the direction of those risks. US is attempting to replace now badly reduced IS with SDF and if the Turks starting reducing SDF they will be in a loosing situation, it will in the end come to the open armed aggression against Syria and we will have a hot raging war once again….

First, all shithadists transited through Turkey, thanks to Mulsim-Botherhood infected state. Erdolf bought blood-oil from IS on the behalf of son Bilal. IS is former AQ/Iraq that allied with mostly all Saddam’s post fall underground network, even with al-Douri’s ‘private army’ for a time. I doubt sincerely US having any control on Saddamists, they couldn’t even have influence on ‘moderate rebels’. Erdolf is doing more and more errors and, as it is well known, at least in Greeko-Roman civilisation, those whom Zeus wants to doom, he makes them insane first. With his clear admiration for Hitler etc etc, we’d ALL… Read more »

I’ll try and tread carefully here, US with its allies has organised/created/supported IS and even they acknowledge this. Who organised/created/supported SDF? specially after Kobani? So now we have 2 apparently opposed sides in this conflict both organised/created/supported by the US, and finally US decides to actually start fighting (allegedly) IS? Wouldn’t you say they control them? both sides of this conflict? This is nothing new, MI6 and CIA have been doing this most of 19/20 century….
