BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:00 P.M.) – The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced the launch of the “Aren 2” operation against the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in the Diyarbakir Province, with the participation of 2,24 security personnel.
The ministry said in a statement, “The operation is a continuation of the Aren operation that we recently launched in the Tandurk Mountain in the eastern state of Agri, as part of its efforts to eradicate the organization from its roots.”
They continued, “The operation was launched with the participation of 116 teams from the gendarmerie and the police, and it includes 2,24 security personnel.”
The ministry affirmed that the operations will continue as of January 11, with “great determination and motivation, with the support of the Turkish people, to eliminate the last terrorist inside the country.”
No further details were released by the Ministry of Interior.
