BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 P.M.) – The Turkish Army, alongside several rebel groups, launched a new assault tonight to seize the strategic city of Al-Bab from the Islamic State (ISIS) in east Aleppo.
According to local reports, the Turkish Army and their rebel allies stormed the small village of Sheikh Aqil, where they were confronted by a large Islamic State force.
While no gains have been reported thus far, the Turkish Army has made the decision to seize the city, despite failing to capture the small towns overlooking Al-Bab.
South of Al-Bab, the Syrian Arab Army is quickly advancing towards the city; however, a military source told Al-Masdar News this past weekend that the government forces have not received orders to Al-Bab, despite being only 4 km away.
