Turkish Army launches heavy attack on strategic town in northern Syria

BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 P.M.) – The Turkish Army and its allied militants launched a heavy attack on the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northern region of Syria on Monday.

According to a field source in the Aleppo Governorate, the Turkish Army and its allied militants launched several artillery shells and rockets toward the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the Ain Issa area, resulting in a number of explosions in northern Al-Raqqa.

The Turkish Army and its allied militants reportedly targeted the towns of Al-Musharifah and Al-Jahbah, which were previously stormed by the latter’s armed groups outside of Ain Issa.

Despite the nearby presence of the Russian Armed Forces and Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Turkish military and their armed groups continue to strike Ain Issa and its countryside, which has resulted in the displacement of several families in the area.

Turkey has eyed the towns of Ain Issa and Manbij (Aleppo countryside) for several months now, prompting them to launch heavy attacks on the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces, who control these areas.

Ankara views the Syrian Democratic Forces and People’s Protection Units (YPG) as the Syrian offshoots of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK); this has led to Turkey’s incursion into several parts of northern Syria.
