BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:25 P.M.) – The official social media account for the Euphrates Shield offensive announced on Tuesday morning that the Turkish Army established full control over the strategic village of Al-Sulfaniyah in east Al-Bab after a fierce battle with the Islamic State forces.
It took the Turkish Army and their rebel allies a dozen attempts to seize Al-Sulfaniyah after suffering heavy losses at the hands of the Islamic State forces over the course of January.
Al-Sulfaniyah is located directly northeast of Al-Bab and was considered the gateway to this Islamic State stronghold in east Aleppo.
With Al-Sulfaniyah captured, the Turkish Army can now turn their attention to Al-Bab, where they look to expel the Islamic State forces from this strategic city once and for all.
