BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:45 P.M.) – The Turkish Army carried out a new attack against the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the northern countryside of the Aleppo Governorate on Thursday.
According to local reports, the Turkish Army attacked the YPG’s positions in the town of Ma’arat Umm Hawsh, causing a number of explosions in the process.
Some reports claimed that the Turkish Air Force launched airstrikes on the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions inside the key town of Tal Rifa’at in northern Aleppo; however, a military source denied this occurred.
The Turkish Army has been increasingly aggressive towards the YPG these last two months, prompting the latter to also engage in retaliatory attacks.
Most recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stayed that his nation’s armed forces were preparing to launch a new operation to eliminate the ‘terrorist’ forces east of the Euphrates.
