Turkey has said it will not remain silent on the Popular Mobilization Unit’s (PMU) offensive on the ISIS-held predominately-Turkmen town of Tal Afar, just west of Mosul in Iraq’s north.

“(Iraqi) Prime Minister, Haider al-Abadi, had pledged through the United States that the PMU would not enter Tel Afar, but on the ground, it seems they did enter,” the Turkish presidency spokesperson, Ibrahim Kalin, said in a press statement on Sunday.

He then went onto say that Turkey “will not remain silent”, and “warns the Iraqi government, through the United States, that it is ought to honor its commitments.”

Turkey fears that the predominately Shi’ite PMU will carry out sectarian attacks on the Sunni Turkmen, an allegation that goes against the inter-faith policy of the militia.

In more than two years of ISIS-occupation of Tel Afar, Turkey have never offered to liberate the city, but have threatened to do so against the PMU.

      • AKP is a Muslim Brotherhood offshoot and the plot to destroy secular regime in Syria comes from KSA/Qatar/Turkey… Don’t look further, know your enemy! Unfortunately, some western countries have been caught in their web of taqiyya and bribes, hopefully, it’s not the Russia’s case and many in the west are neither fooled nor corrupted and perfectly identify the problem.

  1. Turkey has nothing to say in Iraq’s internal affairs. They’d better jail Erdogan and AKP, anyway, they even haven’t enough pilots for their air-force as they fired 350 of them, they tried to have the former THK pilots back from civilian airlines but very few were OK : they make much more money doing this and are not delighted to serve a dictator too, especially as he bombs Turkish cities like Sirnak (80% destroyed and nothing in MSM!).
Erdogan and his gang are treading on the nerves of fishes that are much bigger than they are. Better not play stupid with a great white or a killer whale when you’re only a barracuda : big fishes always eat smaller ones…

  2. Iraqi PMU Kata’ib Hezbollah announced that orders have been issued to target Turkish jets flying over Tal Afar west Mosul.
=> High time to target Turkish jets attacking YPG komrads. Just 2 or 3 Pantsirs would be more than enough and SAA has +50 of them.

    • It’s Sauron who has orcs and Saruman who has gobelins 😉 But Gollum found himself in possession of the ring to rule them all and some others… Things ended badly for poor Gollum when he tried to save his ‘precious’ from mountain of doom’s lava… Erdogan sticks so closely to the archetype that he’s likely to also end stupidly…

  3. AFAIR 25% of the people in Tel Afar were Shia before IS took over.
In Mosul Recep the Sunni Sultan also wants to cement the IS pro Sunni ethnic cleanings. Note that Recep the Turk does not know or does not want to know that about 40% of Iraq Turkmen are Shiites. Smirk.
