BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – Turkey will exercise their ‘right’ to carry out a military operation east of the Euphrates River, the National Security Council (MGK) said on Tuesday, as reported by the Daily Sabah.
According to the Daily Sabah, the MGK vowed to fight the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and their Syrian affiliate, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), inside of Syria.
The MGK says its Turkey’s right to eliminate these “terrorist groups”, adding that they will continue their operations in northern Iraq as well.
The Turkish security council criticized the fact that the United States has not listed the YPG and Gulen Movement as ‘terrorists’.
This statement by the MGK comes just hours after the U.S. constructed five observation posts along the Syrian-Turkish border.
