BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:30 P.M.) – The Turkish authorities summoned the Russian military attache in Syria after the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) struck their observation post near the town of Sheir Magher in northwestern Hama.
According to a Syrian military source, the Turkish authorities issued a warning to the Russian attache, vowing to give the toughest possible response to the shelling of their observation posts by the SAA.
The Turkish authorities reportedly told the Russian military attache to control the Syrian Arab Army and prevent these attacks in the future.
In response, the source said the Russian attache told the Turkish authorities to control their militants and halt their shelling from their observation post area.
The source added that the Russian attache called on Turkey to prevent their militants from attacking the Hmeimim Airport with their assault drones and missiles.
On Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army attacked the Sheir Magher area, killing one Turkish soldier and wounding three others.
The Turkish military responded on Friday morning by shelling the Syrian Army’s positions in northwestern Hama. The Syrian Army would later respond by launching at least ten artillery shells towards the Turkish military’s positions.
