Kurdish officials on Monday accused the Turkish army of shelling the villages of Maranaaz, Vilat al-Qadi, Sheikh Issa east of Afrin district and entering Syrian territory, ARA News reported.

Turkish media also confirmed the shelling.

“Turkish army and affiliated terrorists are heavily shelling east Afrin from Azaz city since Monday evening — the attacks continued until the moment,” the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) said in a statement.

The relatively peaceful Afrin province has been immune mostly from the war, however, this latest Turkish bombardment threatens to bring war to the region.

No surprise here. Afrin Kurds are on borrowed time, in danger of being kettled in their canton. Unconfirmed reports that US/TU constructing a base at JABRIN, just a few klicks east of the MENAGH Air Base and the YPG forward lines. Now that Turks have full control of the twin 212/M4 highway routes to MANBIJ I expect Turkish forces to cross the Sajur river and finally mount their threatened offensive on Manbij city , which, by the way they have been shelling and air strikes for weeks.

It’s high time to deliver SAMs to YPG. Now, a 3km large minefield covered by ATGMs can be nice.
Well, SAMs should better use IRST than radar : Turkey has AGM-88 Harm with a 150km range, thus, have several CIWS around a SAM battery can protect
