BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:30 A.M.) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, during his visit to the White House, Washington DC, on Tuesday.

Trump pledged US support against Turkish operations against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), as well as the Kurdish group the PKK.

He said, “We support Turkey in the first fight against terror and terror groups, like ISIS and the PKK, and ensure they have no safe quarter.”

Erdogan heralded the “long-standing relations” between his country and the US, saying they “are very well rooted and which have quite happily reached a level of strategic partnership.”
