El Ejército Sirio reinició sus operaciones en contra del autodenominado “Estado Islámico” (ISIS) en la región de al-Safa, en el sur del país, esta semana.

Encabezado por el 3er Cuerpo y la 10ª División, el EAS inició su asalto atacando las defensas terroristas desde tres ejes distintos en la región de al-Safa.

Poco después de iniciados los combates las fuerzas gubernamentales pudo asegurar el control de al menos medio kilómetro en el sector occidental del área de combate.

Junto con ello, las tropas de Damasco liberaron varios puntos al interior de al-Habariyah y Qabr Sheikh Hussein, incluyendo trincheras y puntos de francotiradores.

De acuerdo a una fuente militar en Damasco, el EAS mató 10 integrantes del ISIS en los combates, sufriendo cinco bajas por su parte, incluyendo dos oficiales del 3er Cuerpo.
