The Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” received bad news on Wednesday afternoon, when local fighters reported the death of two prominent emirs (commanders) after a successful assassination attempt inside the city of Ariha in the Idlib Governorate.
According to Jabhat Al-Nusra’s official social media accounts, Mohammad ‘Abdel-Wahhab (aka “Abu Hazim”) and Iyad Al-‘Adel (aka “Abu Al-‘Atiq”) were reportedly killed when an unknown gunner driving a motorcycle opened fire on the two terrorist leaders in broad daylight on Wednesday.
Both Jihadist commanders were well-revered by their for their “gallantry” in the battlefield – they both participated in the battle for Idlib City and the Al-Ghaab Plains (Sahel Al-Ghaab) in the spring of 2015.
No group has taken responsibility for these assassinations; however, rumors indicate that it may have been the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
Other rumors blame the Syrian Intelligence apparatus for the death of both Jihadist commanders.
