DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4: 05 P.M.) – The military commander of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham – the Syrian offshoot of al-Qaeda – was killed yesterday during clashes with the Syrian Army in the southwestern province of Quneitra.

Duraid al-Shuneibli was reported dead when the Syrian Army, backed by local fighters, made a successful counteroffensive, thus reversing all gains achieved by the jihadi groups during the past five days.

Jihadi groups, led by HTS, launched a massive assault against the government forces in Quneitra province to seize al-Ba’ath City, but failed to achieve any substantial gains.

During the assault, the Israeli jet fighters raided positions for the Syrian Army, killing and injuring a number of troops.
