BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:55 P.M.) – Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) liberated a new village in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, continuing their large-scale advance around the Islamic State’s stronghold of Deir Hafer.
Led by the Tiger Forces and Al-Baqir Tribe, the Syrian Arab Army liberated the village of Harmalah after launching a powerful assault in east Aleppo tonight.
With Harmalah under their control, the villages of Tal Al-Ahmar, Rasm Al-‘Abed, and Asimiyah also fell to the Syrian Arab Army today.
The Syrian Arab Army has now liberated 8 villages over the last 24 hours in the eastern Aleppo countryside, putting them within striking distance of the Islamic State’s stronghold.
Deir Hafer is the last major town under the control of the Islamic State in east Aleppo; its loss would mean that the terrorist group would be forced to fend off the Syrian Arab Army in the Maskanah Plain near the Al-Raqqa provincial border.
