BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – At least three Turkish Army soldiers were killed and another ten others were wounded after a surprise attack was carried out by the so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS) in eastern Aleppo on Wednesday.
According to the Islamic State’s official media wing, their forces carried out the attack against the Turkish Army east of Al-Bab, following their attempt to clear the outskirts of this city in east Aleppo.
Since launching the operation to liberate Al-Bab, the Turkish Army has suffered heavy casualties trying to infiltrate the Islamic State’s main line of defense around the city’s eastern and northern flanks.
Al-Bab is one of the Islamic State’s last strongholds in eastern Aleppo; if lost, they will be forced to send their remaining forces to the town of Deir Hafer near the Euphrates River.
