BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M.) – The last rebels and their family members in the southern Damascus towns of Babila, Yalda, and Beit Sahm were evacuated to the northern provinces of Aleppo and Idlib yesterday.

As a result of this last evacuation, the aforementioned towns in southern Damascus have been declared militant-free for the first time since 2012.

Despite the absence of militants, the Syrian Arab Army has only entered the town of Yalda, which is located near the Islamic State’s (ISIS) front-lines in Hajar Al-Aswad and Yarmouk Camp.

No date or time has been set for the Syrian military to enter Beit Sahm and Babila; however, the army is not likely going to enter those towns, as they will send local defense forces to police to the area.
