Ankara, Turkey (9:00 A.M.) – Several people were killed on Friday morning when a car bomb was detonated at a checkpoint near the Turkish police headquarters in the town of Cizre.
According to the state-owned “Anadolu News Agency,” the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was behind this bombing, despite no official comment by the aforementioned group regarding the attack.
Anadolu News Agency added that a dozen helicopters and ambulances have arrived in the predominately Kurdish town of Cizre to transport the wounded to local hospitals for treatment.
Friday’s attack is the second targeted bombing to occur in southeast Turkey over the course of two weeks.
