IMHO both side cannot afford heavy loses in the Raqqa campaign. So the SDF are likely to only seize all productive assets easy to get. For revenue and bargaining value. They must conserve strength for a possible end fight for the Kurdish cantons against either the Turk & mercenary forces or the SAA. This excludes a costly attack on urban Raqqa with its’ possible inimical Arab majority population. IS will IMHO not make a costly defensive stand outside urban Raqqa but will try to hold its prestigious capital. The surrounding area has less complete resources (oil, food, human) than Deir… Read more »

While i do agree with some of the things that are said i dont think he took in effect al scenarios for the battle. SDF is now closing in from the west and started operation from in the area southwest of the 93rd brigade base clearing all the terrain behind the frontline of the forces on the euphrate bank. They will probably push east as far as tabqa dam and baath dam blocking acces towards nothern euphrates bank. The 2nd phase will slow down and hold to strengthen defences and train local arabs into SDF arab factions ranks. Just like… Read more »

IMHO, the most of the roaches will shave their beards and let Euphrates s**t “conquer” them, they’ll also have their riffles and ammo stockpiles buried : we’ve already seen this in Jarablus, etc.

Always good to start the New Year with a belly laugh – … ” US special operators, who are unquestionably the most experienced and highly trained warriors on earth … ” ROFLMAO – Anyone who has served with USARM including SF in any sustained combat, without massive IF or CAS will confirm what a bunch of wimps and pussies US troops are . I had direct experience, have seen a SF recon team abort a mission in “Indian “country because their download link failed and the team leader was “deprived of real-time situational awareness data which degraded our operational capability… Read more »

Ummm, the kurds defeated ISIS in kobane when ISIS was at its peak and threw everything at them. They are among the very best fighting forces in the East, and now they have a coalition with arabs and close to a 100k fighters. They will take raqqa like they took manbij, sarrin, tishrin, almost all of hasakah province, etc. They already advanced a lot since the start of the offensive and they are no inexperienced turkish soldiers in Al Bab, let me tell you. Curious as to what makes you think its highly unlikely SDF will take raqqa? ISIS have… Read more »

Who is this kid? LOL. Does he really believe that he can sit at his parents house in Australia and provide any genuine insight into the situation on the ground in Raqqah? I know millenials are raised to believe they are each the greatest thing to come along since sliced bread, but have a little sense, kid, and learn a little humility. The Kurds are probably some of the bravest, most skilled and experienced military tacticians in that corner of the world. They are also being supplemented by US special operators, who are unquestionably the most experienced and highly trained… Read more »

Great video, your just a typical t**d sean.. where ever this person is making the video from is irrelevant. He clearly reads different analytical texts from various analysts and then comes to his own conclusion which he portrays in his well made and easy to follow videos. He may be right or he may not be but his views are plausible. how about instead of you presuming he is a “kid” living in his parents house you make something better that contributes to an actual intellectual discussion and not your stupid comments. Also the kurds are not brave, or skilled… Read more »

What are your views on the “Syrian Observatory for Human Rights” .. the one man setup being run from the UK?
I’m just asking since you seem so offended that OZAnalysis has an Australian accent, may be located anywhere in the world and has voiced his opinions that are not inline with yours.

Absolutely. SOHR is a Westminster founded one man show. Lets hope he makes a buck so that he can retire after Assad’s victory.

@abuqahwa. Says that they rely on a data up link for their job – & avoid useless risk. Removing their gear makes them normal human. AFAIK US soldiers outside Hollywood films have rarely shown outstanding feats. At least not when the other side had equal gear and numbers.
