The Islamist rebels of Ajnad Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) are completely encircled inside Darayya, as the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces continue to seize several sites within the dilapidated districts of this strategic city inside the West Ghouta.
On Thursday morning, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Republican Guard – imposed full control over the Islamic Center and the Ceramics Factory inside the Darayya Association Quarter after a violent battle with the Islamist rebels of Ajnad Al-Sham and Jabhat Al-Nusra.
In addition to their advance inside the Darayya Association Quarter, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces and their allies furthered the rebel divide between the two cities of Mo’adhimiyah and Darayya, as they seized several building blocks along the western sector of the latter on Thursday.
With Darayya and Mo’adhimiyah full separated by the Syrian Armed Forces, the Islamist rebels are trapped between these two cities without any way out.
Approximately 1,500 opposition fighters remain spread out between the cities of Mo’adhimiyah and Darayaa, while the Syrian Arab Army’s siege continues to wear down these Islamist fighters that are likely experiencing a scarcity of necessary supplies to continue their battle against the government.
