DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5: 50 P.M.) – Islamist militants fighting the Syrian government forces in eastern Hama countryside claimed they have shot down a Syrian jet.
The L-39 Albatros jet trainer was shot down by anti-aircraft machineguns while conducting combat mission over Um Haratain village, a rebel source claimed.
The Syrian government confirmed that one of its jets suffered a technical error which eventually led to its crash on the ground.
The destiny of the pilot is yet to be known with both warring parties are desperately on the search now.
Fierce battles erupted in area with the Syrian troops attempting to storm the rebel-controlled village of Um Haratain.
