A delegation of the Syrian opposition has arrived in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi to take part in the Astana-format talks, sources close to the negotiations told TASS.
“Opposition members have arrived in Sochi,” one of the sources said.
Another source confirmed the arrival of the Syrian opposition delegation, adding that it would hold a meeting with Turkey’s representatives later in the day. The delegation is led by Ahmad Toma.
A two-day international high-level meeting on Syria, chaired by the three guarantors of the Syrian ceasefire (Russia, Iran and Turkey), kicked off in Sochi on Monday.
The meeting’s agenda includes issues related to the establishment of a Syrian constitutional committee, the situation in de-escalation zones, the return of Syrian refugees and other humanitarian issues, namely the exchange of prisoners and detained persons between the parties to the conflict.
