Syrian Minister of Transport Ali Hamud said on 14 January that the latest airstrike by Israeli jets in the Arab Republic damaged not only service buildings at Damascus International Airport, but also several planes, rendering them useless.

“The shrapnel damaged wings of several jets. As you know, fuel tanks are situated in the wings. Due to this, the use of several planes has been stopped”, he said.

Ali Hamud also noted that the remaining fleet of airplanes is aging and currently in dire need of spare parts.

The minister said that apart from planes, several buildings at the airport were also damaged in the airstrike. He added that an aircraft repair hangar was among them. It had already been damaged in an earlier Israeli strike and hadn’t been repaired by the time of the last one.

Israeli jets conducted an air raid on the night of 11-12 January, hitting targets in the suburbs of Damascus. Syrian air defences downed most of the missiles. Damascus condemned the strike and urged the UN to take steps to prevent further Israeli air raids.

Tel Aviv claims that the jets were targeting Iranian military objects, allegedly located in the Arab Republic. Israel has made similar claims in the past to justify its numerous airstrikes on Syrian territory.

Tehran has repeatedly denied the Israeli claims, stating that it only has military advisers present in the Arab state at the request of Damascus.

It’s time for Syria and Iran to take in account UNSC res.1701 and stop to shelter/back/arm/fund Hezbollah’s armed branch, and for Iran to also stop funding/arming/backing Hamas and PIJ (Palestinian Islamic Jihad). As long as these Islamist cockroaches will be backed in their attacks aganst Israel, Israel will be RIGHTFULLY keep doing. Actually, it even give them the right to invade or strike Syria, Iran and even in Lebanon, Turkey or Qatar (Qatar funds Hamas saying they’re a charity organisation, ROFL! Turkey also funds these pigmonkeys). It’s up to the cowardish lousy mullahs in Tehran to stop using proxies or… Read more »

Perhaps the Israelis should implement UN Resolution 242 especially the part where they should withdraw from the territories conquered in the Six Day War of 1967. That way the Palestinians can get back East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and the Syrians the Golan Heights…. Just saying

You play the Zionist game by denying this or that using defensive language. it then legitimizes a unprovoked act of aggression and murder ‘oh so you admit there are Iranian’s in the Mideast therefore we need to bomb more and ask for international invasion force’,,,, se we are right to attack they admit Iran and Syria are friends’. They have to keep the verbal game in line with the insane acts to justify them propaganda wise across the globe for freebies and support You call on the Nuremberg principle and demand the hanging of those responsible and payment of the… Read more »
