BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Syrian military used the latest generation Buk-M2 missile defense system during the Israeli attack on Damascus today, the Muraselon News Agency reported.
As shown in the short video from Muraselon below, the Syrian military used the Buk-M2 to shoot down the Israeli missiles that were targeting the western countryside of Damascus on Sunday afternoon:
The Syrian military has used the Buk-M2 before to combat the Israeli strikes; however, this is believed the first time they have used the upgraded version of the defense system.
In addition to using the Buk-M2, the Syrian military also used their Pantsir-1 system to shoot down these missiles.
The Syrian military said that they downed all nine Israeli missiles that were fired towards the western countryside of Damascus on Sunday afternoon.
Israel later claimed that the Syrian military fired a missile towards the occupied Golan Heights; they said it was intercepted by their Iron Dome system.
Since the attack, the Syrian military has been placed on high alert as Israel often responds to these retaliatory attacks.
