DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Ministry of Defense threatened on Thursday night to shoot down any Turkish warplane that illegally enters Syrian airspace without approval from Damascus.

This threat by the Syrian Ministry of Defense comes just hours after the Turkish Air Force carried out several airstrikes in northern Syria.

The Turkish airstrikes specifically targeted the Kurdish forces operating against the Islamic State terrorists in the Aleppo and Al-Raqqa governorates.

Ankara claimed as many as 200 Kurdish fighters were killed during their raids in northern Syria; however, the People’s Protection Units (YPG) denied this report.

Nah, they’ve threatened before, Russia too, both have done nothing, not even in Deir Ezzor when the Coalition killed scores of soldiers. Turkey will keep doing what they’re doing to the Kurds unopposed.

Useless to down anything flying over 5km high, in fact, the most of MPADSs have a 3500m ceiling, just two can reach 4.5/5km ceiling. For things like F-16s, Pantsirs are required. MPADSs are mostly efficient to target choppers, they may be useful against low flying aircrafts like A-10 or Su-25 but better have several as these babies are armoured and hard to shoot down, then, remember that there are efficient counter measures. What would really be much more efficient would be an AK-630M2 naval CIWS mounted on an heavy APC : nonetheless, any low flying aircraft would be shattered but… Read more »
