BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:05 A.M.) – It was another sleepless night for the Islamic rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and Faylaq Al-Rahman, as the Syrian military unleashed an overwhelming assault on their positions in the eastern suburbs of Damascus.

Using surface-to-surface missiles, the Syrian Arab Army’s 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division pounded the Islamist defenses in Jobar, paving the way their ground assault moments ago.

Meanwhile, at nearby ‘Ayn Tarma, the Syrian Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard continued utilizing the advanced UR-77 mine clearing vehicle to inflict heavy damage on Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses.

According to a military source in Damascus, the 105th Brigade’s assault on Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions near the Sonbol Station this morning opened up a gap in the latter’s defenses, giving way to the advancing Syrian Army units to enter several buildings.

Intense clashes are ongoing at the moment in both Jobar and ‘Ayn Tarma, as the Syrian military attempts to expand on their territorial gains.
