A fighter jet belonging to the Syrian Air Force crashed down today Thursday in the eastern outskirts of the southern province of Daraa.
The armed militants fighting Syrian Army in the south claimed credit for the incident. Opposition fighters have recently gained ground south, taking over Brigade 52 and nearby villages.
According to state TV, the warplane (Su-24MK2) suffered a ‘technical failure’, but not ‘shot down’. The pilot successfully managed to eject himself from cockpit and is a safe place at the moment.
