On Tuesday morning in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade (commandos) of the Republican Guard – backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), Liwaa Suqour Al-Sahra (Desert Hawks Brigade), Fouj Al-Mughawayr Al-Bahir (Syrian Marines), and the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP) – imposed full control over the small hilltop village of ‘Ayn Al-Ghazal after advancing northeast from the rebel stronghold of Kinsibba.

Following the capture ‘Ayn Al-Ghazal, the Syrian Arab Army’s 103rd Brigade and their allies seized Rasha village, Height 852, and Barzah Al-Tahtani after a violent battle with the extremist rebels from the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigade”, Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group), and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham.

As a result of these swift gains in northeastern Latakia on Tuesday, the Syrian Armed Forces are approaching the Idlib Governorate’s border and should be attacking the strategic village of Kabani in the coming days.

Kabani is the current target for the Syrian Armed Forces because of its strategic heights that overlook the Idlib Governorate’s western countryside; if captured, the village of Sirmaniyah would be the next objective because of its proximity to Jisr Al-Shughour.
